For the sulfuric acid plant in smelter, glass fibre candle filters are mostly used in absorption towers. However, the ore grade, chemicals are usually various from each smelter. For some smelters, the off-gas contains high fluorine due to the ore. HF present will cause corrosion of glass fiber and reduce life of candle filter. It has been a very headache problem for some smelters.
